Harvest again…plump and swollen from the summer rains, brought crashing to the ground by recent high winds, a crop of crab apples lies across our backyard. Despite being incredibly busy, I had to pick at least some of those glowing red beauties. And in the pot they go. Simmer to a pulp, then strain, and so on. I reckon four jars of jelly will result. But another nice thing about this is the lovely warm autumnal smell that fills the house, as the crab apples gently cook. Thank you, sunshine and rain, for this free food.
